Educational Excellence

As a management trainee, I was like  a sponge in a sea of education.  Learn this, learn that, observe, act upon, take notes, time was of no importance and those individuals who were in positions of authority had my utmost respect, especially those with all those certificates on the walls, all those awards of excellence and all those designations.    I was going to be just like them.   The light shone brightly in these offices.

As time passed, maintenance was called in time and time again, as these lights kept going out.  Why was this?  The holders of these certificates  chose not to pay the electric bill.

Revelation 3:15……….I know your works; you are neither cold nor hot.  I wish that you were either cold or hot.  So because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

Is your professional life a dimmer switch?

In order to help people,  as you have been helped in your career, you must be willing to go out on that limb and make those decisions that perhaps will not please everyone; however, you know that it is the right decision .  Is the light fading or are you working in full brighness?

Too often, because  we are so concerned about  what people will think of us in everything that we do,   we make bad decisions usually affecting the GOOD people, who must now suffer for the bad behavior of those who simply do not care.   You know the ones – the ones with all those certificates and honors.

When did we lose our caring for the responsibilities of life and for our fellow human beings?  When did our lives become our only focus and everyone else is blurred?

Professional behavior demands that we live by the GOLDEN RULE and when we step outside those boundaries, the problems become worse and will not, I repeat, will not go away.   Yet, many certificate holders think that they will.

Knowledge is indeed power; however, we must link our brains of higher learning to those less schooled and together we will change the world – perhaps only one person at a time.

Wouldn’t you like to help someone become more skillful and feel better about the job?

Now, that is a lesson for another day.

Blessings………….
